Bangalore: The recently concluded survey revealed that Mobile Application Developers is the "Best Computer Jobs for the Future". The large number of smart phones and tablets, the demand for new apps and a lucrative salary are some of the contributing factors that help Mobile App Developers secure the number 1 spot.

"Mobile application development is home to one of the largest skills gaps ever seen in IT employment; there are simply more job openings than skilled and educated mobile developers to fill them. This is especially true for Apple iOS and Android application developers, as just under 90% of mobile devices in circulation in the U.S. run on these two platforms,” said Daniel Greenspan, Enterprise IT Education Consultant of ITCareer Finder.

A few years ago, smartphones were not as popular as they are now. The rising popularity of smartphones has created a demand for mobile application developers. However, the demand for Mobile Application Developers is relatively less as compared to the demand for Web developers.

The rise in the demand for mobile app developers was also evident in Asia and there are vast opportunities for a person who wants to enter this sector. “Mobile software engineering is one of the fastest-growing areas in today's IT jobs market because employers, from multinational corporations (MNCs) to startups, are pushing their products and services via mobile platforms,” says Hays’ Asia Operations Director, Christine Wright.

The need for real-time information apart from the various services from mobile devices will make the Asian Market grow in two to three years, mentioned Charles Chng, Business Manager, Manpower Singapore.

IT recruiters are advising, professionals to stay abreast with various updates. With regards to this, Wright encouraged job seekers to learn new programming languages and also be updated with the various trends in the market.  Smart added that this will help mobile app developers move to “hardcore programming”, if the need arise.

Wright also informed that with many developers entering the market, employers will be strict in the selection process. Chng further added that employers may consider selecting candidates who don’t have the skills but are ready to learn.
