RIM Calls for Early App Submissions
Bangalore: Good news for developers who were eagerly waiting to submit their apps for the BlackBerry10 operating system. RIM in a blog post on devblog.blackberry.com informed that the BB10 platform is now open for app submissions.
According to the post, RIM will review all the applications that were submitted from October 10. “This means that apps submitted to the store starting today, October 10, are guaranteed to be reviewed, tested and ready for publishing when BlackBerry 10 launches in Q1 2013. This is a huge opportunity to be the first into the store and capitalize on app-hungry BlackBerry users,” said Alex Kinsella, Team Lead, Product Management for BlackBerry App World, at Research In Motion (RIM).
Developers will see a new feature called “BlackBerry 10” and a new device called “All Touch” while submitting their apps to the BlackBerry App World Vendor Portal. To submit their app, they will need to select the “All Touch” option. Alex also informed that the Blackberry 10 Dev Alpha is still available for developers to target their app for testing purposes.
Built for BlackBerry and 10k Developer Commitment
Applications that were submitted will be tested for the “Built for BlackBerry” program. Developers whose apps have been certified by the program will qualify for the “10K Developer Commitment”. This commitment guarantees a financial reward to developers who release an app that brings in at least $1,000 revenue.
RIM also informed that all applications that were submitted in October and November to the BlackBerry App World will be reviewed for “preferred carousel placements at launch as a thank you.”
Alex also advised developers to use the Beta3 Developer SDK to develop their applications. He also informed that all applications that were previously submitted will need to be resubmitted after developers recompile the apps using the Beta3 SDK.
