Mobile App Development for Ubuntu Mobile May Be Sceptical

Bangalore: The power curves in the mobile app development are directly affected by the dominance of leading mobile OS ecosystem in the market. With more than 90% of the users using Android and iOS alone, android app development and iPhone app development attracts the best of the Mobile App Development world while on the other hand dedicated attempts from windows to encourage the developer community has not reaped substantial results as of now. In midst of this Ubuntu’s mobile OS remains a speculative new entrant to the market. Would it be able to lure mobile app development companies to create apps for another ecosystem?

Speciality of Ubuntu mobile OS
Like android, Ubuntu mobile OS is also an open source mobile operating system that boasts of an intuitive UI. The apps are sorted accordingly to the usage frequency of the user and there is a side bar as well for quick access. However, like windows phone, which could not change much with its rotating tiles, many believe that small changes an add-on in the UI will not make much difference to the status quo of the market. Even if the fluidity of ubuntu mobile OS is comparable to that of high end android phones, people will not switch to a new ecosystem when they are satisfied with the overall experience of android.

Despite the minimal advantage of the UI, the idea of Ubuntu’s mobile OS relies on the integration of all the devices including PCs, TVs and tablets under the ubuntu ecosystem. In short, you can use all your apps under the ubuntu platform which will reduce your clutter and streamline everything to one single place.

Ubuntu is without apps and late in the game

While iOS and Android app development has come of ages, a new mobile OS from Ubuntu might take time to germinate and match the standards of these existing ecosystems. Apple might be trialing against android devices, however no one can deny that iOS’s fluid experience is still something that android lacks even after 4 generations of development.

In addition to it, it must be also understood that apps are driving the mobile ecosystem of today. Creating dedicated and exclusive apps are creating new segments of users. Ubuntu cannot rely on the integration of devices alone as other competitors are already investing heavily on their cloud computing platforms.
