Bangalore: Mobile apps, whether used to play games, listen to online radio, edit pictures or simply to obtain information have proved to be useful for our day to day life. They have become a part and parcel of our smartphones. For most of us, without apps, our phones are best regarded as non- functional. However, most of us are too focus on the functionality and usability of these apps that we forget about the potential risks that are involved when using them. Thus, mobile users would need to be cautious while downloading apps.

Veracode, an application security firm provided four levels of risks. They are the:
1.    Application Risk
2.    Operating System Risk
3.    Network Risk
4.    Hardware Risk

It is good to download original apps from trusted apps stores and to delete applications that do not allow you to change privacy or sharing settings. It was also found that hackers create fake applications to spread malware which will eventually give access to hackers to access the mobile device. Veracode also provided the below infographic that explains the risks involved using mobile applications.
