Bangalore: Appcelerator, the leading mobile platform company, recently announced its plans to deliver a mobile application development solution for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 in the first half of 2013. As part of its ongoing commitment to provide developers with a range of technology choices, Appcelerator will enable developers to produce fully native Windows Phone 8 and Windows Store apps using their existing JavaScript knowledge. Developers will also be able to easily translate previously built iOS and Android applications to the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 platforms.

"Working to release our developer tools for Windows 8 has been a great experience," said Appcelerator CEO Jeff Haynie. "We are so excited by the transformational technology Microsoft is bringing to industry, enabling us to provide developers with the best mobile application development solution for today's cross-platform environment."

Appcelerator views this as an invitation to the world's mobile developer community to use these additional resources to easily create rich applications for business-to-business and business-to-consumer environments. Appcelerator's Titanium platform will provide support for the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 platforms, enabling developers to produce apps as they do for other platforms Titanium supports, including Android and iOS. Enterprises that are closely aligned with Microsoft Corp. technology will also have the opportunity to take advantage of Appcelerator's expertise to implement effective mobile strategies for their employees and customers.

"In an age where everyone has a mobile device, having Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 support from innovative companies such as Appcelerator is important for the growth of the entire ecosystem," said John Richards, senior director of Windows App Marketing for Microsoft Corp. "Appcelerator gives more opportunities and more choices to developers to build apps, which, in turn, will result in the creation of great Windows Phone 8 and Windows Store apps."
